2)  Q Can I connect my computer to a television for video output?
A
Yes! The Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter allows the connection of your laptop to a television for video output. The adapter is about $28 and available at CDW-G. For more information, click here.  Please Note:  External speakers will be needed for audio when using the Mini-DVI to Video Adapter.
3)  Q How do I connect to a projector?
A
Connecting to a projector on the Mac side is operational.  Connecting to a projector on the PC side is operational but must be configured the first time. To do so, you must have the projector attached to the computer using your new dongle. Once attached, right-click on the  Windows desktop, scroll to Graphics Options, over to Output to, and then choose the dual option to display your desktop on your notebook and the LCD projector at the same time.
4)  Q How do I install additional software?
A
In order to install additional software to the laptop, contact your Campus Technologist (CT) and provide them with proof of purchase and a license.  CT's should contact TIS for large level installs.
5)  Q How do I use the DVD?
A

Use of the DVD is currently available on the Mac side. Contact CT for further information.

Playing a DVD on the PC side

1.   After inserting the DVD, a window pops up with Play DVD Video highlighted. Close the window.
2.   Click on start > All Programs > Real Alternative, scroll down and click Media Player Classic.
3.   Click on File and choose Open DVD. Your DVD will play.
4.   For full screen, alt/enter (hold down the option key and press enter.)
5.   To view the controls, move the mouse to the bottom.
6.   To quit the DVD, alt/x (hold down the option key and press x.)
7.   To Eject the DVD, push the Eject button located under the power button. (PC keyboards don't have this button.)
8.   After you open Media Player Classic a couple of times, it will appear in the start menu.

Special thanks to Rick Benitez for providing this solution!

6)  Q How do I use Lotus Notes?
A
Lotus client on the PC side is operational. On the Mac side, postpone use of the full client. Please use webmail (mail.yisd.net) for the next few weeks until the Mac Lotus client is updated.

A
The ability to set the default OS boot to Windows will be enabled by the end of the week and pushed out to the image over the network.

A
YISD network printers will be easily managed through a webpage. This point-and-click solution will be available soon. CT's will be briefed and may contact Doug Chamlee for further information.
9)  Q How can I secure the laptop?
A
Please exercise reasonable care in securing your laptop by keeping it in a locked room or closet when not in use. If you desire, you may purchase a laptop security cable which may be attached to a stationary item in your room. These cables are approximately $15 - $50 each and are either key-based or combination locks. We recommend campus-based purchases through CDW-G. Personal purchases can be made online or at local stores such as Comp USA or Best Buy.
10)  Q How do I use Apple Remote?
A
Front Row Remote controls were not included in the original bid, therefore if you would like to purchase one, you may do so by visiting the online Apple Store.

A
The old laptops are not available for purchase. Principals and cadre members are developing a plan for their use.
