Using the Apple Learning Interchange

How to Use ALI
You will be divided into groups for the sessions. Take something from each session to incorporate into your final project. The Apple Learning Interchange is a set of free resources for educators
to find media and ideas for classroom activities. Look at ALI to see
examples of how your end project could look using the different iLife applications:

Sign up with ALI utilizing your YISD email address.
- Click on the Search Button.

- Type in the word Poetry in the Search field. Click on the Search button at the bottom of the window.

- Notice you can refine your search by selecting Channel, Grade levels, Academic Area or Tools.

- Break into small groups and explore ALI based on your content area.
- Share your findings with the whole class.
Your Task
To gather and use ideas from this site to develop student learning.
- Select a unit from a first semester's scope and sequence.
- Create a plan for a project based on ideas you have seen on ALI.
- Your final project will be posted on
your SchoolCenter website using the What's New page.
- As you attend different sessions, save your products as a QuickTime file or jpgs.

*Note files uploaded to SchoolCenter can be no larger than 10 mg.
Uploading Your Video Podcast to SchoolCenter
- In SchoolCenter, you can upload your video podcast to any
page. However, if you would like viewers to be able to subscribe to
your podcast, you will need to use the Document Manager page. For
this example, we are going to use the Document Manager Page.
- Click on the Details tab. Put a check in the box in front of "Syndicate this page with RSS." Click "Done."
- Be sure you are in "Edit Mode."
- Go to Page Settings and under the General tab, check the box for Enable Podcast Support and click OK.
- On the Document Manager page, click on the "Podcast Settings" tab."
- Write a title, description, Owner Name and Owner email address.
- Under Category, choose "Education."
- Under Sub-Category, Choose "K-12."
- Click Done.
- Click
the Category link to create categories for your vodcasts. Click Add New
and type a category title. It is recommended to include a description
with your category to provide viewers with a better understanding of
your vodcasts. Once completed, click Done.
- Double click the Category folder where you want to upload your vodcast.
- Click
the Add Document link and a window will appear on your screen. Leave
the selection on Standard Mode and click Select Upload Method.
- Click
Browse and locate the vodcast file you to be uploaded. Click Open.
Wait until the file is 100% uploaded, then click Done.
- You can rename the file if necessary thenand when completed, click Done.
