The protocol below is to clarify the revised process to ensure that all full-time teachers have a laptop.
The process is only for NEW (N) and DELETED (D) full-time teaching positions.**

There will be NO change to the process for transfers/replacements. Teachers/librarians that move into a position that already existed at a campus, are to be issued the laptop that belonged to the previous teacher/librarian (regardless of whether they retired, resigned or transferred). Therefore, keep all of your laptops at your campus, unless IT contacts you about a Deleted position.

OBJECTIVE:
In order to ensure that we are good stewards of funds and provide equity in access to laptops for full-time teachers, a systemic process has been created to:

  • Identify all CLOSED/DELETED (D) full-time teaching positions (includes SPED),
  • Identify all NEW (N) full-time teaching positions (includes SPED),
  • Clean/re-image the teacher laptops, and
  • Re-issue the laptops

Due to fluctuations in enrollments, we must wait until approximately September 15th to determine the Deleted and New Positions.
Because of this delay, we ask that you identify a temporary loaner (perhaps from a mobile lab) for staff that needs one.

PROCESS:
Instructional Technology (IT) will coordinate the process below.

  1. Gather information on on all Deleted (D) and New (N) full-time teaching positions from HR/SPED (spring/summer; perhaps early fall semester)
  2. Notify campuses that have Deleted or New positions
  3. Gather laptops from campuses with CDeleted position
    • Campus will transfer the laptop to IT in the Tyler Munis system
  4. Laptops will be cleaned and re-imaged (TIS)
  5. Laptops will be re-issued to campuses with a New (N) position
    • IT will transfer the laptop to the campus in the Tyler Munis system

Due to fluctuations in enrollments, we must wait until approximately September 15th to determine the Deleted and New Positions.

Because of this delay, we ask that you identify a temporary loaner (perhaps from a mobile lab) for staff.
