The mission of the YISD Bilingual Education Department is to create an environment that ensures that every Second Language Learner in our district meets or exceeds state and national standards in two or more languages and in all content areas. Guided by Professional Learning Communities principles, we commit to work with educators in capturing, inspiring, and teaching in order to assure success for all students.

1. YISD will engage in systemic reform so that by 2007-2008 all campuses will meet the needs of all English Language Learners (ELL's) through the exclusive implementation of Dual Language (90:10 Model) K-12th and/or ESOL 7th -12th.
2. Every graduate will be fluent in two or more languages by participating in a District-wide Dual Language program.

All students who enroll in our schools will graduate from high school, fluent in two or more languages, prepared and inspired to continue their education in a four year college, university or institution of higher education so that they become successful citizens in their community.
