iChat

iChat lets you easily chat using text, audio or video with other iChat, .Mac, and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) users over the Internet - or just on a local network using Bonjour .  You can also send files, such as pictures, directly to your buddies and talk about the files while your friends view them. Today we will focus on chating within our local network and send a couple of small files your way.  Lets Begin!

1. Open the iChat application by clicking on the iChat icon.SchoolCenter Picture

2.  As it opens, click on iChat and select "Log In to Bonjour"

3. When a person in your Buddy List is connected to the Internet and logged in to iChat, you'll see the person listed as "Available"     in your Buddy List. 

4. These are three modes of communication within iChat; Instant Message (text), Audio chat, and Video Chat. To enable any of these three, select one of the names on your "Buddy List" and select the mode that you desire. A = Instant Message,

= Audio Chat, Camera icon = video chat.

5. To send a message, just double-click the person's name. When your buddy replies, you'll see the response on your screen. 

6. You will receive an invation when someone is trying to communicate with you. You must click on the accept button to proceed.  

6. To send a file, drag the file to the person's picture in the Buddy List.
