THE MAJORITY OF THE WORK IS DONE IN CLASS. WHEN STUDENTS ENTER MY ROOM THEY IMMEDIATELY COPY DOWN THE LIST OF THE DAY'S ASSIGNMENTS. ANYTHING THEY DO NOT FINISH MUST BE FINISHED BY THURSDAY OF THAT WEEK. STUDENTS DO ALL, IF NOT MOST WORK, IN A COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK, THEIR JOURNAL. THE IDEA BEHIND GIVING THEM UNTIL THE END OF THE WEEK IS THAT THEY LEARN SELF DISCIPLINE AND RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN GOOD WORK HABITS AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF MEETING DEADLINES.
CERTAIN SKILLS/OBJECTIVES ARE WORKED ON DIALY IN CLASS TO ENSURE MAINTANENCE OF NECESSARY READING SKILLS: VOCABULARY READING NIGHTLY FOR A MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES MAIN IDEA AND SUMMARIZING CRITICAL THINKING
**STUDENTS AGENDAS ARE CHECKED DAILY TO ENSURE WORK IS WRITTEN DOWN. PLEASE CHECK THEIR AGENDAS NIGHTLY AND ASK THEM TO SEE THEIR WORK TO ENSURE THEY HAVE COMPLETED IT, OR AT LEAST TO BE AWARE OF WHAT THEY STILL NEED TO COMPLETE BY THE END OF THE WEEK.

Blogs have been set up for all 6th grade students through the internet. Every week your child will be responsible for posting at least 3 blogs. The blog assignment is as follows. Complete one of the following: one post on your page and two comments to two different posts on Ms. Ward's page OR publish two posts on your page and one comment to Ms. Ward. If you would like a printed out copy of the weekly blog expectations, please let me know. Students get to my blog through my website. There is a button on the left of my home page that sends them directly to my blog page. |
