The following elective classes are full! Art 1, Art 2 Drawing, Digital and Interactive Media, Law Enforcement 1, Law Enforcement 2, Piano 1, Photojournalism, Lifetime Nutrition, Video Tech, Dance 1, Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing
Physical Education Department @ J. M. Hanks High School requires a uniform for classes. T-Shirts are $7 or 2 for $13 and shorts are $12
According to established Board of Trustees goals, students beginning with the Freshmen class of 2010-2011 shall have a minimum of 80 hours of volunteer service in order to participate in graduation ceremonies. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to accrue 20 hours per year of volunteer service until they graduate. Students excused through an Admission, Review and Dismissal committee will not have to complete the required volunteer hours. (See page 29 of 2010-2011 YISD Student Handbook)
Beginning with the Freshmen class of 2010-2011, the SAT or ACT are recommended, but no longer required, for graduation. Graduates will still need to complete a minimum of one application to a postsecondary institution. (See page 13 of the 2010-2011 YISD Student Handbook)
