Board of Trustees - Code of Ethics 2008-09
I realize that to be the most effective advocate for children we, as a board, must function as a team.  To this end, I pledge to do my best to adhere to the principles listed below. Should I for whatever reason, fail to follow these guidelines I ask my fellow board members to call to it my attention.  When that happens I pledge to accept the feedback without anger or finger pointing and to renew my efforts to follow this Code.

  1. I will come to meetings prepared.

  2. I will attend all meetings and arrive on time, except in extreme emergency.

  3. I will accord others the respect I wish for myself.

  4. I will encourage the expression of different opinions and listen with open minds.

  5. Prior to making any decision, every board member will have an opportunity to share their views.

  6. I will not engage in a side conversation or any other distracting activity while another is speaking.

  7. I will hold discussion about any breach of ethics in executive session.

  8. I will not participate in the election for or against another board member.

  9. I will always be candid and truthful with fellow board members.

  10. I will respect the majority decision as the decision of the Board.
